Every exam at Haywood Family Eye Care is performed by one of our Doctors of Optometry, who diagnoses and manages eye disease, not just writes a prescription. Our team is committed to providing great care and an even better experience.

Dr. E. Aimée McBride, O.D.

Optometrist

Clemson University, Biosystems Engineering · UAB School of Optometry — Valedictorian

Dr. E. Aimée McBride (pronounced “Ah-MEE”) earned her degree in Biosystems Engineering from Clemson University before receiving her Doctor of Optometry from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry, where she graduated as Valedictorian.

With an engineering background, Dr. McBride brings a thoughtful, analytical approach to patient care. She believes there is rarely a one-size-fits-all answer and enjoys working with each patient to find the solution that best meets their needs. She is committed to building lasting relationships while providing thorough, personalized eye care for patients of all ages.

Dr. McBride lives in Waynesville with her husband, their three boys, and their two dogs. Raising a son with Down syndrome has shaped the way she approaches patient care, reminding her that every individual deserves to be treated with patience, respect, and genuine compassion. Outside the office, she enjoys traveling—especially to National Parks—along with hiking, baking, and crafting. She is an active member of The Orchard Church and loves getting to know the people and families of Haywood County. Building long-term relationships with her patients is one of the most rewarding parts of practicing in the community she is proud to call home.

Dr. Thomas “Tommy” Pinkston, O.D.

Optometrist

University of Florida · UAB School of Optometry · Residency in ocular disease

Dr. Tommy Pinkston is a native of Florida and earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Florida. He went on to receive his Doctorate of Optometry from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Following graduation, Dr. Pinkston completed a residency in ocular disease and refractive surgery in Atlanta, Georgia, where he gained extensive experience co-managing patients undergoing cataract, corneal, and refractive surgeries. Since relocating to Western North Carolina in 2016, Dr. Pinkston has focused on creating a welcoming environment where patients feel informed, comfortable, and confident in their care. He believes that clear, honest communication is the foundation of great eye care and takes time to ensure each patient fully understands their eye health and treatment options.

Outside the office, Dr. Pinkston enjoys spending time with his wife and three children, and staying active through fitness and outdoor activities.

Dr. Amy Krempecki, O.D.

Optometrist

Ithaca College, Biochemistry · Salus University / Pennsylvania College of Optometry · Pediatric residency

Originally from Pine City, New York, Dr. Krempecki earned her Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from Ithaca College. She went on to receive her Doctor of Optometry degree from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University in Philadelphia, PA. Following her doctoral studies, she completed a one-year post-graduate residency at Child and Family Optometry in Wichita, Kansas.

Although Dr. Krempecki specializes in pediatric eye care, she welcomes patients of all ages. Her professional mission is to raise awareness of visual challenges in children and to educate the public on early detection and treatment options. She is dedicated to empowering parents, caregivers, and fellow healthcare providers with knowledge to support children’s visual development.

Dr. Krempecki is highly trained in diagnosing and managing a wide range of ocular conditions, including diabetic retinopathy, dry eye disease, age-related macular degeneration, retinal disorders, glaucoma, and more. She is committed to providing thorough, personalized care and helping patients understand their individual eye health needs.

Outside of the office, Dr. Krempecki enjoys traveling, baking, and scrapbooking. In her free time, she loves spending time with her husband, John, and their son, Sebastian. Together, they enjoy visiting Gatlinburg and escaping to a cozy mountain cabin for a relaxing getaway.

Dr. Weronika Przepiora, O.D.

Optometrist

University of Florida · Southern College of Optometry · VA residency

Dr. Weronika Przepiora (pronounced “Veh-ROH-nee-kah Sha-PEER-ah”), whose Polish surname often sparks curiosity, grew up in Sarasota, Florida, and pursued her undergraduate studies at the University of Florida, where she earned a degree in Biochemistry with minors in Disabilities in Society and Spanish.

She went on to receive her Doctor of Optometry degree from the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee. During her time there, she served as a student ambassador and completed clinical rotations at the Orlando VA Medical Center and a private practice in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Following optometry school, Dr. Przepiora completed a residency in Primary Care with an emphasis in Ocular Disease at the WJB Dorn VA Medical Center in Columbia, South Carolina. Through this training, she gained extensive experience in the diagnosis and management of ocular disease, as well as the fitting of medically necessary specialty contact lenses.

Now a proud resident of Western North Carolina, Dr. Przepiora looks forward to becoming an active member of the community and exploring all that the mountains have to offer. Outside of her professional interests, she enjoys traveling, hiking, reading, and discovering new coffee shops. She is also trilingual, speaking Polish, Spanish, and English.
